Dominican Convent Primary School Celebrates Official Opening of New Premises
Dominican Convent Primary School marked a historic and joyful milestone on 23 January 2026 with the official opening and blessing of its new school premises. The occasion brought together clergy, religious sisters, parents, learners, and members of the surrounding community in a celebration filled with faith, gratitude, and hope for the future.
The celebration was graced by the Very Reverend Father S. Mavhiya, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Gweru, who presided over the Holy Mass and officially blessed the school premises thereafter. He was joined by several priests from the Diocese, whose presence added to the spiritual significance of the occasion. Among them were Reverend Father G. Chibhira (Chancellor), Reverend Father A. Mpofu (Financial Administrator), Reverend Father E. T. Mutusva (Bishop’s Secretary), and Reverend Father T. Mapwashike (Education Secretary).
The event was well attended by Dominican Superiors and friends, parents, neighbours, and members of the wider community, all of whom came together to witness and celebrate this important step in the life of the school. The atmosphere throughout the day was one of joy and thanksgiving, reflecting a strong sense of unity and shared purpose among all present.
The Holy Mass was animated and prayerful, with the children taking an active role in the liturgy. They participated with enthusiasm, confidence, and reverence—an encouraging sign of the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and spiritual formation.
