Journey Together in Faith, Hope, and Divine Love

As Christians, we are called to be pilgrims of hope, walking together in faith as one family of God. Our journey is not a solitary path, but a shared pilgrimage where we draw strength from the Lord and from one another.
The Diocese of Gweru embraces this calling with joy, rooted in the Gospel of Christ and guided by the example of the saints who walked before us. Like pilgrims, we carry our burdens, our prayers, and our dreams, trusting that God walks alongside us, leading us closer to His eternal kingdom.

Hope in Our Daily Lives

Hope is more than a feeling; it is a firm trust in God’s promise. In times of trial, hope reminds us that suffering is never the end of the story. For the young, the elderly, families, and communities, hope lights the path forward. As Pope Francis reminds us, “Hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts” (Romans 5:5).

  • Strengthen our faith through prayer, Scripture, and the Sacraments.

  • Live in love and unity as families, parishes, and the wider Church community.

  • Care for the vulnerable — the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the marginalized.

  • Be witnesses of Christ in our schools, workplaces, and daily lives.

  • Nurture hope in the young and accompany them as they grow in faith.

  • Work for peace and justice in our society, inspired by the Gospel.
Pilgrimage as a Way of Life

Every Mass, every act of charity, every prayer is part of our pilgrimage. We are not merely traveling to holy shrines or places of prayer — we are becoming living witnesses of Christ’s love in our workplaces, schools, families, and parishes. As a diocese, we walk together: clergy and laity, the old and the young, the strong and the weak. We share in each other’s joys and carry one another’s crosses, knowing that the Church is truly a communion of believers.

Called to Charity and Mission

To be pilgrims of hope also means to reach out with love. The Diocese of Gweru continues its mission of service through:
Pastoral ministries that strengthen faith and community.
Charitable works that care for the vulnerable and marginalized.
Evangelization that proclaims the Good News with courage.
We are called to see Christ in the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the forgotten. Every act of kindness, however small, becomes a step on the road of hope.

Naboth

Gweru, Zimbabwe

We are pilgrims of hope, united in Christ, walking toward the fullness of life in God’s kingdom.

Our pilgrimage is not yet complete. The Diocese invites all the faithful to continue journeying together, in prayer, in service, and in love. Let us remain steadfast, trusting that God, who began this good work in us, will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
May Mary, Mother of the Church, walk with us on this pilgrimage of faith and hope, guiding us always toward her Son, Jesus Christ.
